Holthinrichs Watches
Holthinrichs Watches was established by architect turned watchmaker, Michiel Holthinrichs, in 2016. Michiel's "dream and objective is to create incredibly beautiful and meaningful timepieces as objects of art. Not just any art, but intelligently designed architectural wrist sculptures that integrate on all levels."
Architecture taught Michiel the importance of detail and ornamental features which he recognised in watch design. He viewed timepieces as miniature, precise constructions and it was this that led him to try his hand at creating his own watches when he was still an architect. The development of an attractive watch case that is entirely 3D-printed took several years of research and refining.
These days, the brand has elevated 3D-printed watches to an art by balancing the rough finish from the process with traditional watchmaking forms and decoration. And, Michiel's "plan is to develop a core range of classic style watches that are high-end and have a strong element of personality, but which could be completely customised like bespoke jewellery."
Though Michiel and Michael only met in 2023, the two have forged a connection not only over watchmaking but also over embracing contentment in life.
